Handmade Wood Saute Spoon

This Wood Saute Spoon is handmade in America. Use this slender, long handled little spoon for sauteing delightful things and it works well as a mixing spoon for summery drinks. It lends a bit of charm next to any big pitcher of iced tea or lemonade.

Hand carved by Artisan woodworkers in Leslie, Arkansas from sustainably harvested local wood.

These handmade wooden cooking utensils use timber that's sustainably harvested from local land. They may also use recovered woods from storm damaged trees and scraps from other area wood workers. Their primary woods are Black Walnut and Cherry, though they may occasionally have Silver Maple, Osage Orange, Pecan and White Oak.

  • Handmade
  • Each item is tagged with its wood variety and other information
  • All pieces are toxin free and easy to wash
  • Leave 'em out of the dishwasher for the sake of longevity
  • With simple basic care like hand washing and an occasional oiling, these spoons should last a lifetime, or even a couple generations
  • Each item is an individual piece with it's own characteristics

Due to the nature of each item being individually handmade, slight variations will occur with wood grain and appearance from those pictured.

The Process:

There are about ten steps in the spoon-making process. Custom created templates are laid on the wood of choice and shapes are drawn out. Each piece is then carefully guided through a band saw before being sanded down to its desired shape. Next, if shaping a spoon, the bowls are gouged out to their desired depth. Then the pieces are sanded again, by hand, using increasingly finer sandpaper until the desired smoothness has been reached. Next is the final step, everyone’s favorite - the piece is rubbed with Red Road's own blend of edible cooking oils and a little beeswax. All that's left is to admire it as a sustainably produced piece of functional art!

Wooden spoon
Thanks Diana for taking the time to review the Handmade Wood Saute Spoon. We appreciate your feedback. It does have a smaller bowl, with its long handle. Some of the other spoons have larger bowls. The spoons are made completely by hand so it is possible that an item may not be quite as smooth as something that is mass produced. Thanks too for supporting LocalWe and small business. It makes a big difference.
