How it's made:
1. Get the Bottles: The maker collects used bottles from a local wine bar, wine festivals and friends.
2. Clean the Bottles: The bottles are thoroughly cleaned and any labels or other decorative items are removed so they don't interfere in the melting process.
3. Flatten the Bottles: The bottles are baked in a kiln at a temperature of over 1400 degrees and flattens under its own weight, while retaining its basic original shape.

Wine Bottle Art's founder makes her wonderful upcycled art in her studio in Kenna, West Virginia. Originally a stained glass artist, she began experimenting with the use of glass that would otherwise be recycled, or worse, thrown away. Today she applies the techniques she learned to turn wine bottles and other types of bottles into unique and beautiful glass art.
